History Graduate Student Association Conference
Since 2005, Loyola's History Graduate Student Association (HGSA) has hosted an annual conference for history graduate students to share their work, receive valuable feedback, and collaborate on future research. The conference attracts graduate students from across the country who come together to present on a wide variety of topics.
HGSA is thrilled to announce our Call for Proposals for the 2025 conference, “History in the World.” The conference is accepting paper proposals or presentation proposals that address the intersections of history, community engagement, and the broader impact of historical scholarship. Such proposals may be on any historical topic, from any time period, or in any geographic location.
Proposals for papers or presentations are due November 22, 2024, submitted to loyolahistoryconference@gmail.com.
The 2025 HGSA Conference will take place in Kasbeer Hall on Loyola's Water Tower Campus on February 22 and 23, 2025.
Shermann “Dilla” Thomas will be our keynote speaker for the 2025 Loyola HGSA Conference. In addition to being affectionately dubbed “Chicago’s TikTok Historian,” Dilla is the founder of Chicago Mahogany Tours, which focuses on providing audiences historic tours of neighborhoods on Chicago’s South Side. He is also the recipient of the Chicago Public Library Foundation’s 21st Century Award, the Studs Terkel Uplifting Voices Award, and Choose Chicago’s 2022 Chicago Tourism Ambassador.
