About
Dr. Simerson is a full time faculty in the graduate school of nursing and leads the DNP family nurse practitioner track. She received her DNP degree from Loyola University Chicago in 2016. She actively practices as a family nurse practitioner in a family medicine free clinic. Dr. Simerson teaches APRN courses including disease management, advanced health assessment, practicums, and family health promotion/disease prevention courses.
Research Interests
Scholarship interests include family health promotion, disease prevention; smoking/vaping cessation; population health and health disparities; and disaster preparedness.
Practice interests include extensive past experience in emergency and urgent care medicine as a nurse practitioner. Current practice is in family medicine caring for underserved populations in a free clinic setting as a family nurse practitioner.
