School of Social Work Celebrates 100th Anniversary with Publication from Recent History Graduate

Loyola University's School of Social Work commissioned graduate student Charles Heinrich (MA, 2015) to write a history of the school for the program's 100th Anniversary. The result, Service, Sacrifice, Scholarship: 100 Years of Preparing Social Work Leaders debuted at the School of Social Work's 100th Anniversary Gala Banquet on May 30, 2015. The booklet follows the school from its early days under its founder, Fr. Frederic Siedenburg, S.J. (1872-1939), its struggles and hardships during the Depression and World War II, its subsequent growth and changes, and more. All throughout, the piece chronicles an institution that has made a lasting legacy in the city of Chicago.

This is Charles' second publication; his first work was a history of Lakeshore Campus' Madonna della Strada.
