Communities in Conversation (CIC)

Communities in Conversation (CIC) launched in Fall of 2018. The program is designed to allow diverse faculty from around the University to have an opportunity to network and develop meaningful relationships. To date, there are three self-identified community groups within the University; faculty of color, women faculty, and LBGTQIA+ faculty. Last year, each of these groups convened to discuss topics from gaining tenure to dealing with a difficult colleague. The women faculty group discussed building community, while both the faculty of color and LBGTQIA+ faculty discussed how to begin to establish connections with student groups with similar identities. This year, we look forward to having the opportunity to continue to build a more diverse community.

If you are interested in joining one of these communities, please contact Quortne R. Hutchings via e-mail at qhutchings@luc.edu. If you would like to join the LGBTQ faculty and staff listserv visit http://lists.luc.edu/ and select Lgbtqfacstaff. Note that you must be on a campus network to join the listserv (i.e., it will not load properly if you attempt it from home). The list is designed to facilitate communication amongst this group. All members are welcome to post to the listserv to share information about events or invite collaboration.
