Alexis Barkin in a Licensed Clinical Social Worker who joined the Wellness Center in June of 2021. Alexis received both her undergraduate degree in International Studies and Master’s degree in Social Work from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor. Prior to joining the Wellness Center, Alexis provided services at Indiana University, Bloomington as a mental health clinician specializing in power-based violence. Alexis utilizes an empowerment based practice to support students in: identifying their personal strengths, challenging unhealthy patterns, and cultivating ongoing resilience. She often incorporates mindfulness and ACT into her line of work. When Alexis is not at work she enjoys escaping in to nature, journaling, or trying out a new recipe.
