Heavy Duty On-Road Vehicles: Sustainability and Emissions Overview
During this virtual conversation, Chris Perzan, VP of Environment and Sustainability, and Chief Environmental Counsel at Navistar, Inc. covered some of the basics of heavy duty truck transport sustainability issues. Heavy duty vehicles are quite different than light duty cars and trucks. Chris's presentation looked at the implications of those differences for sustainability issues and provide an overview of current government action, and also action driven by sustainability standards, internal corporate goals, and customer requirements. The presentation provided a basic introduction to the landscape, challenges, and opportunities specific to heavy duty vehicle transport in North America.

Chris Perzan is Vice President, Environment & Sustainability and Chief Environmental Counsel at Navistar, Inc. Navistar is a major manufacturer of heavy duty trucks and buses and is part of TRATON Group. Chris plays a key role in Navistar's sustainability strategy, including decarbonization, as well as running the environmental and sustainability office and advising the company on a wide breadth of environmental issues. Prior to joining Navistar he practiced law and served with the Illinois EPA and Illinois Attorney General's Office, Environmental Division, on a variety of environmental policy, regulatory and enforcement matters. He is a graduate of Washington University in St. Louis School of Law and Knox College.
