Jenna Kunde

Director, Global Sustainability, Johnson Controls

Jenna Kunde is Global Sustainability Director for Johnson Controls, the leader in smart, healthy and sustainable buildings. She directs enterprise-level sustainability programs, global sustainability reporting, thought leadership and stakeholder engagement. She is honored to be part of a company that is recognized for sustainability leadership including being named one of the Global 100 Most Sustainable Corporations, achieving climate leadership level from CDP, and rated AAA by MSCI for Environmental, Social and Governance.

At Johnson Controls, she led the climate-related risks and opportunities assessment with leaders around the company and the Sustainability Materiality Assessment. She is the president of the Global Sustainability Network, our sustainability business resource group, with members from 39 countries from all regions of the world. She serves on the Global Sustainability Council, the LifeCycle Assessment Working Group, the Zero Landfill Certification review committee, the OpenBlue Healthy Planet Working Group, and the Company Purpose Working Group. She also works with communications to tell our sustainability stories, with finance on our sustainable finance agreements, and with teams around the company to ensure streamlined engagement across diverse business functions to deliver on the enterprise sustainability strategy.

Previously at Johnson Controls, Jenna was director, Corporate Programs where she wrote for the department and directed enterprise-level programs including the Chairman's Awards, the company's highest employee honor, and ProjectZERO, a corporate headquarters waste reduction competition. She also worked with a team to develop a new global SharePoint software application.

Before joining Johnson Controls, Jenna was the executive director of WasteCap. Her work included overseeing over $4 billion in construction and deconstruction reuse and recycling efforts – helping achieve WasteCap's vision to transform waste into resources. She helped develop WasteCapTRACE software and co-authored and taught WasteCap’s USGBC Education Provider Program, Construction Debris Recycling Training, which was featured at Greenbuild.

Kunde was named “Recycler of the Year” by Associated Recyclers of WI and one of the Top Women in Solid Waste Management by WasteNews. She served on the national Building Materials Reuse Association board of directors, the planning committee of Decon, the Governor’s Blue Ribbon Task Force on Waste Materials Recovery and Disposal and the chairperson of its Waste Reduction Workgroup.
