Governing Councils

The Office of Sorority and Fraternity Life advises 20 organizations each one of the organizations is governed by a council. It is the responsibility of these councils to ensure that their affiliated organizations meet and comply with the expectations and guidelines implemented by their national office and Loyola University Chicago. Currently, there are three councils advised by the Sorority and Fraternity Life staff at LUC these councils are as follows:

Interfraternity Council (IFC)

The Interfraternity Council is composed of delegates from each recognized NIC fraternity chapter and an executive board. Currently there are four (4) men’s national/international social fraternities at Loyola University Chicago that gives members opportunities in leadership roles and involvement in a wide range of community service, social, academic, athletic and philanthropic activities.  

Multicultural Greek Council (MGC)

The MGC is the governing council for eight (8) multicultural fraternities and sororities and well as the National Pan-Hellenic Council (NPHC) on campus. The purpose of Multicultural Greek Council is to enhance sisterhood, brotherhood, service, fundraising, educational and individual success of its member sororities and fraternities through experience, leadership, and maintenance of council membership guidelines. The MGC will be committed to advocating for the needs of it's member organizations and for the Loyola University Chicago community. The council will also continue to enrich the college experience among Loyola University Chicago students. Through the trademarks of character, leadership, values and recruitment, the member organizations will advance to exemplify unity, and, to promote unity on this campus.

Panhellenic Council (PHC)

The Panhellenic Council (PHC) is the governing body that oversees the seven (7) women’s national/international social sororities at Loyola University Chicago. The Panhellenic Council is composed of an executive board and delegates from each of the recognized NPC sorority chapters on campus. With over 1,500 collegiate members, Panhellenic Council is one of the largest student organizations at Loyola University Chicago. Panhellenic strives to provide opportunities for members to engage in education, philanthropy, service, sisterhood, academic, and leadership opportunities. This year, Panhellenic Executive Board wants to emphasize women's empowerment through their programming initiatives, community building, leadership opportunities, identity development, and continued education.
