| Description: | Wondering what a community general surgery practice is like? Want to gain experience in surgery without residents and other learners around? The goal of this rotation will be to provide medical students with one-on-one experience with a general surgery attending at a community hospital. Students will have the opportunity to work with the attending in the outpatient clinic, operating rooms, and emergency department. This rotation is meant to provide an experience with a busy community general surgical practice. On average, students will spend 5 days a week with the supervising attending, and will likely get to experience one 24-hour weekend call from home to gain a realistic view of community general surgery. |
| Method of Evaluation: | Students will be evaluated on the basis of each of the six core objectives by the supervising attending physician. Mid rotation feedback will be provided, and there will be an expectation of one formal case presentation to the course supervisor. The final grade will be assigned by the course supervisor. |
