Description: This rotation is designed to help students learn to provide substance abuse treatment. Students will spend at least one week in the outpatient addiction treatment program, at least one week in the outpatient methadone maintenance program, and 2 weeks in the residential substance abuse treatment program. During the course of the rotation, students will do at least two full evaluations for admission to the ATP or OTP programs and attend at least one group with addiction patients in any of the programs. Students will develop increased understanding of addiction as a disease, increased understanding of opiate use disorder treatment, increased understanding of addiction treatment in a substance abuse residential setting, and increased understanding of addiction treatment in an outpatient addiction setting.
Method of Evaluation:

Students will be evaluated on the basis of each of the core objectives detailed in the course curriculum. This competency will be reflected by a clinical performance evaluation to be completed by the course supervisor.
