Description: |
The student will evaluate patients with a wide variety of acute and chronic medical issues and be prepared to diagnose and manage common medical issues in the family medicine setting. The service is staffed by residents of the West Suburban Hospital Family Medicine Residency Program, and is supervised by faculty members. The student will experience a unique obstetric, nursery, and pediatric orientation. There is an option to participate in outpatient care at the PCC Community Wellness Center and the Salud Family Practice Center. There is a requirement for overnight call. Method of Evaluation: | Satisfactory completion of the elective will depend on meeting these conditions: 1. A satisfactory evaluation from the site instructor, using competency related goals and objectives. The site instructor will complete an evaluation based on knowledge, attitude, and competence. 2. A patient/clinical experience log. This can be done as a daily log or clinical diary. 3. A one page double-spaced summary describing the elective experience. 4. Pass a 10-question final exam. |
