Description: |
The inpatient service is staffed by residents of the Family Practice Residency Program and is supervised by faculty members. Students will be assigned patients and be responsible for their diagnostic and therapeutic management. There is an option to participate in outpatient care at the Family Practice Center and students may also round with pediatric or OB teams. Students take call with senior residents. Students will evaluate hospitalized patients with a wide variety of acute and chronic medical issues. SITE: West Suburban Hospital FPRP, 7411 W Lake Street, Suite 1100, River Forest, IL. Ten minute drive from LUMC Program: 10,10,8, Faculty: 15 FT and 9PT Area of Interest: maternal and child health, community oriented primary care. |
Method of Evaluation: | Satisfactory completion of the elective will depend on meeting these conditions: 1. A satisfactory evaluation from the site instructor, using competency related goals and objectives. The site instructor will complete an evaluation based on knowledge, attitude, and competence. 2. A patient/clinical experience log. This can be done as a daily log or clinical diary. 3. A one page double-spaced summary describing the elective experience. 4. Pass a 10-question final exam. |
