Student National Medical Association

The Student National Medical Association (SNMA) is the nation's oldest and largest independent organization run by students and focused on the concerns of medical students of color. SNMA was established in 1964 by students from Howard University School of Medicine and Meharry Medical College. Today the SNMA membership includes more than 6,000 medical students, pre-medical students, residents and physicians from across the country and over 280 chapters. SNMA is committed to fostering medical services and education that are culturally sensitive to diverse populations and to growing the number of African-American, Latino and other students of color entering and completing medical school.

The Loyola SNMA Chapter strives to implement many SNMA programs and initiatives locally. Loyola SNMA is committed to developing professional networking opportunities, professional experiences, initiatives to impact the diverse community surrounding the Loyola campus and to mentor pre-health students of color to increase the number of underrepresented minority students in medical school.
