Fresh Start
Fresh Start
Fresh Start is a program where medical students act as health counselors for members of the Salvation Army’s Halfway House. In the program, medical students give weekly 20 minute presentations on different topics such as nutrition, smoking cessation, sobriety, mental health, and exercise. In addition, medical students provide 1-on-1 health counseling for participants. Fresh Start works to encourage the continuation of goal setting and healthy living after members are released and fully reintegrated into society.
