Years at Loyola: 4 years as a students, 2 years at the Rome Center, just under 2 years in my current position (just under 8 years total!)
What is your favorite thing about working at Loyola? I love getting to live out the Jesuit mission, something that I created a very close relationship with as a student. As a staff member, I am in a position that requires me to think and act on behalf of the institution. As a conduit and a product of the mission, I love that I get to apply the Jesuit mission in everything I do.
What is your most memorable achievement as a Loyola employee? I have too many to choose from! I’ve narrowed it to the top three: 1.) Establishing the inaugural study trip to Malta to take an in-depth look at the refugee influx into Western Europe; 2.) establishing a commanding and engaging social media strategy for my division in the past few months; 3.) leading the first Alumni Camino retreat from Water Tower Campus to Lake Shore campus—all on foot and with 30 alumni in tow! AMDG!
What does Loyola's mission mean to you? The Loyola Mission drives my work, and for the past 8+ years, has been my guiding light as I grow in the service of my alma mater, my community, and ultimately, the rest of the world. I am fortunate to experience the mission on many different levels, as an engaged student, as a passionate staff member, and a proud alum.
What motivates you to succeed each and every day? I understand that while I am not in a student-facing role, my commitment to the student experience still drives my work. Knowing that my work directly impacts access to an education that has and continues to mold my life is my driving force. Getting to interact with my peers who have had formative experiences as impactful as mine is an added bonus.
Tell us how you show your Rambler pride. After a combined 8 or so years at Loyola, I’ve gathered quite the collection of Maroon and Gold. I proudly wear my collection of hats, sweaters, neckties, athletic gear, t-shirts, and more whenever I get the chance. After this year’s Rambler Day, I realized that I could easily compile enough Loyola-themed outfits to last me two full weeks.
Tell us something most people at Loyola would be surprised to know about you. Outside of work, I’ve gathered and mobilized over 1,400 volunteers on social media to amplify the Black Lives Matter movement through community cleanups, window-board painting, and education webinars . Most recently, I organized a lecture on Juneteenth and organized volunteers to paint an entire city block of boarded windows at the Center on Halsted.
