What is your favorite thing about working at Loyola?
I love the people that I work with—the English Language Learning Program teachers, Office for International Programs staff, and most of all, our students. I love working with our students because they are remarkable individuals, and it takes so much courage to immerse yourself in a foreign culture/country and to pursue your studies/degree in a foreign language. They inspire me every day.
What is your most memorable achievement as a Loyola employee?
During this May’s commencement ceremonies, I was proud to see a number of graduates from various schools who had completed or studied in our ESL program. A couple of them had started with us in the beginner level of our program, so it was just amazing to see them get their bachelor’s and master’s degrees.
What does Loyola's mission mean to you?
In my daily work and through our University and program’s mission and goals, I strive to provide excellent support services to our international and non-native English speaking students.
What motivates you to succeed each and every day?
I want students who come through our program and who study at our University to have a positive and life-changing experience. So I will never get complacent, and I will always be looking for faculty, staff, and student feedback and ways that we can improve our program’s curriculum and services.
Tell us how you show your Rambler pride.
I love connecting our international students to Loyola events and organizations; I’m proud to be a Rambler, and I want our students to be more involved and take pride in being a Rambler as well.
Tell us something most people at Loyola would be surprised to know about you.
I’m a huge FC Barcelona fan, and I love talking about real football, soccer, with our students!
