My motivation is to excel and to be successful in every aspect of my life: personal and work.
Tell us how you show your Rambler pride.
I present to parents during orientation and I talk about my “aha” moment at Loyola in hopes that they will have the same realization with/through their student.
I took this job (after a lengthy family discussion) because of the tuition benefits. At the time, my daughters were in high school and the plan was to work here for five years. This really isn’t a big deal, unless you look at my commute. I currently live west of Randall Road at the edge of St. Charles, a 2.5 hour public transportation commute (drive, train, bus, bus). My youngest daughter started in 1999 and she was the proverbial “princess,” somewhat spoiled and sheltered by growing up in the far western suburbs. In her junior year, I approached her as her birthday drew near and asked what she would like. Waiting to hear what it was, and preparing for an expensive request, she responded with, “Will you make a donation in my name to Hearts in Motion?” I was flabbergasted and realized the impact Loyola’s Jesuit education had on her. This made me look at my position and reassess my job. I never involved myself in anything outside of my job responsibilities. I looked at Loyola differently and am now very proud to tell others of my own awakening and why making my commute every day for 17 years has been a labor of love.
Tell us something most people at Loyola would be surprised to know about you.
We are moving in March, and I’m cutting two hours off my commute!
