I am from Wixom, Michigan  

What do you like to do? 

I love volunteer and service work, spending time with my friends and family, and working out!  

 

How are you involved in Community Service & Action? 

I am involved in Loyola4Chicago. I have been involved in the program ever since my first semester Freshman year and have been a leader since the beginning of my Sophomore year. I have been working at Chicago HOPES for Kids and McCutcheon Elementary since I have started! I have also had the privilege of being invited to present on behalf of Loyola4Chicago at the National Jesuit Student Leadership Conference this past summer!   

 

Why do you engage in the Community? 

I believe engaging within your community is essential in becoming a better person. Not only are you able to impact those you work with, but you also learn so much about yourself through your work. You are able to grow, find your passions, and develop a sense of self that you otherwise may not have been able to. I also love being able to meet and work with different people at Loyola and in Chicago.  

 

How do you envision living out our mission of building the greater good past your time at Loyola? 

After I graduate from Loyola I plan to take a gap year to do mission work and research before applying and attending medical school. I strive to integrate service and volunteer work throughout the rest of my life, as it has become something I am very passionate about.  

 

Being a Rambler: 

How are you involved at Loyola outside of CSA?  

I am currently a member of Chi Omega Lambda Mu and have had the opportunity to grow in leadership within the chapter. I have been involved in our philanthropy team fundraising for the Make-A-Wish Foundation and most recently was elected as the New Member Educator on the executive board of the chapter. I also had the privilege of being involved in the First and Second Year Advising office as a Peer Advisor, which has allowed me to work with first year Loyola students in a University 101 course. I love this program because it has allowed me to work with so many different students and build a sense of community on campus! I am also reestablishing the medical chapter of Volunteers Around the World in Chicago as an intern, leading a group of students to Peru next winter! This past summer I was involved with the Global Health chapter of Volunteers Around the World, in which we traveled to Guatemala to improve the sustainability of local family homes! Outside of campus I currently work as a crew member at Trader Joe’s!  

 

What advice would you give to an in-coming student at Loyola? 

To any in-coming student I would say to take advantage of any opportunity you are given! Life is too short to worry about the little things or what people may think of who you are becoming. Do the things you are passionate about and the things that make you happiest and don’t think twice about it! It is a time to grow and find yourself, and it is okay to do the things YOU want to do! Be scared, take chances, and find yourself! I came to Loyola terrified of what was to come, and little did I know it would be the best years of my life yet!
