Students complete a high ropes course

LUREC Brochure

The “wilderness classroom” at Loyola University's Retreat and Ecology Campus (LUREC) is the ideal setting for scout groups, school groups, and youth groups to connect with one another and the world around them. Campus highlights include a demonstration kitchen, in-house meeting rooms, and dorm-style lodging.

LUREC is located in Woodstock, IL, in the far northwest suburbs of Chicago, about 17 miles south of the Wisconsin border, and 40 miles east of Rockford.

A Wilderness Classroom

LUREC is situated on 98 acres of wetlands, prairie, and woods to explore. Youth groups can learn about sustainability and ecological balance, offering students the chance to deepen their relationship with the natural world around them.

Culinary Team-Building

Culinary classes are available for groups of 6–16. Students will have the ability to work as a team or compete while learning important cooking fundamentals from our professional staff using food from our gardens.

Meeting Rooms/Lodging

Meeting spaces for small and large group settings are available. Overnight retreat packages include accommodations in our dorm-style guest rooms and three freshly prepared meals in our dining room.
