About
Douglas Evanoff is the first executive director of the George G. Kaufman Center for Financial and Policy Studies, a center that evaluates and contributes to the debate concerning current issues associated with the financial services area.
By utilizing conferences and other forums, the center brings together relevant experts to present research and deliberate on current policy issues. The longer-term goal of the center is to add an internal research component that is recognized within the profession for providing high-quality, rigorous evaluation of public policy alternatives for financial services.
Previously he was a vice president and senior research advisor for banking and financial institutions at the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago where he conducted research on financial services and served as an advisor to senior management of the Federal Reserve System on banking and regulatory issues.
His research has been published in academic journals including the American Economic Review; Journal of Financial Economics; Journal of Money, Credit and Banking; Journal of Financial Services Research; and the Journal of Banking and Finance, among others. He has also published chapters in numerous books and articles in practitioner journals, and has edited a number of books. His current research interests include financial regulation, consumer credit issues, mortgage markets, bank productivity analysis, bank merger and antitrust policy, payments system mechanisms, and credit accessibility.
He previously was a lecturer in finance at Southern Illinois University, assistant professor at St. Cloud State University, and an adjunct professor at DePaul University. He holds a PhD in economics from Southern Illinois University.
