About

Al Gini retired as Professor of Business Ethics in the Quinlan School of Business at Loyola University Chicago.  He is the co-founder and long-time Associate Editor of Business Ethics Quarterly, the journal of the Society for Business Ethics.  For over twenty-seven years he was the Resident Philosopher on National Public Radio’s Chicago affiliate, WBEZ-FM, and can currently be heard on WGN/Tribune Radio. He also regularly lectures to community and professional organizations on cultural issues, business and ethics.  His books include: My Job My Self: Work and the Creation of the Modern Individual; The Importance of Being Lazy: In Praise of Play, Leisure and Vacations; Why It’s Hard to Be Good; Seeking The Truth of Things; The Ethics of Business with Alexei Marcoux; 10 Virtues of Outstanding Leaders with Ronald M. Green; and, The Importance of Being Funny: Why We Need More Jokes In Our Lives.

Research Interests

Professor Gini is the co-founder and former associate editor of Business Ethics Quarterly, the Journal of the Society for Business Ethics.

Professional & Community Affiliations

Besides lecturing to community and professional organizations, he does consulting on corporate ethics, and he can be regularly heard on National Public Radio's Chicago affiliate, WBEZ-FM.
