Research Interests

I am currently pursing two lines of research, both of which focus on my broad interest in racial bias and inequity. The first explores how individuals negotiate and express their feature-based evaluations of Black Women during spontaneous interpersonal encounters. The second, a collaborative venture, focuses on how adolescent black girls make sense of their intersectional identities in educational settings. In both cases, I center the role of experience in social category representation to explore identity perception, as well as its impact on interaction processes.
