Searle Scholars Internal Competition
Searle Scholars Internal Competition
We are pleased to announce that the Searle Scholars Program has again invited Loyola University Chicago to participate in its annual competition, which is focused on supporting independent research for “exceptional young scientists” who have been recently appointed as assistant professor in a tenure-track.
The Searle Scholars Program makes grants to selected academic institutions to support the independent research of outstanding young scientists who have recently joined the tenure-track faculty in their first academic appointments as assistant professors. The current grant level is $300,000 for a three-year period. Normally, the program makes 15 new awards each year. Applicants must be pursuing independent research careers in biomedical sciences and chemistry.
Applications to the program must be submitted by institutional offices, and not by individual candidates. This year, Loyola has been invited to submit one (1) proposal. Because of this restriction, an internal competition is required, involving the Maywood and lakeside campuses. If you are interested in applying, please submit a one-page summary pre-proposal including hypothesis and aims as a pdf or Word document to Dr. William Sellers, Director of Research Services, Lakeshore Campus (wsellers@luc.edu) by Monday, July 22, 2013. An ad hoc committee of senior scientists will select the applicant from all submitted pre-proposals.
Deadlines:
--Internal Loyola deadlines:
Internal proposal: 7/22/13, 5 pm
Notification date: 8/1/13, 5 pm
--Searle Scholars deadline:
Application Receipt Date: 9/27/13
