MLL International Film Showing: Amreeka (2009)

All are invited to the next film in our international film series on the topic of migration. Amreeka (2009) will be screened Wednesday, February 15 at 7pm in the Damen Cinema. In English with some English-subtitled Arabic. Free popcorn will be served!

Synopsis: A Palestinian single mother, Muna, and her son resettle in Chicago from Jerusalem, with bittersweet results. Although Muna is college-educated, she settles for work at White Castle. While friends come from unlikely places, her son, Fadi, meets prejudice at school. How will the family respond to pressures of American life and American youth culture?

A brief informal conversation will follow the screening.
