John Moynihan

About
John Moynihan is a Law Clerk at the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois. Prior to clerking, he was an associate in the Litigation group of Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom in Chicago. He represented clients in complex commercial litigation and constitutional litigation, including the defense of a university’s admissions policy. He has also represented clients in investigations into potential accounting irregularities, improper business practices, and corporate governance issues, particularly those related to the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act.
While in the private sector, Moynihan maintained an active pro bono practice, such as representing a client in a Section 1983 action for deliberate indifference to a serious medical need, and conducting an innocence investigation in conjunction with the Center on Wrongful Convictions at Northwestern University.
Moynihan is a graduate of the University of Chicago Law school, where he helped develop the Kapnick Leadership Development Initiative and served as a Facilitator in its inaugural year. He earned his Bachelor of Arts in Classics, summa cum laude, from Washington University in St. Louis.
