About
Scott Kozlov is a graduate of Valparaiso University School of Law and Eastern Illinois University. He has been an Investigator with the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services, Court Coordinator for Judge William Maki in the Circuit Court of Cook County, Juvenile Division, and an associate with a general practice law firm in Arlington Heights, Illinois. From 1996-2000, he was an Assistant Public Guardian in Cook County, representing abused and neglected children, and, in 2000, he joined the Illinois Attorney Registration and Disciplinary Commission (“ARDC”) as litigation counsel. Since joining the ARDC, he has investigated and prosecuted hundreds of cases of attorney misconduct. He is currently Director of Unauthorized Practice of Law Litigation and Senior Counsel at the ARDC, in which capacity he is the primary prosecutor in cases involving unauthorized practice of law allegations against non-attorneys and disbarred attorneys. In 2004, he chaired the Chicago Bar Association’s Government Service Committee, and since 2007, he has been the Chair of that organization’s Unauthorized Practice and Multidisciplinary Practice Committee. He has been appointed to the Illinois State Bar Association’s Task Force on the Unauthorized Practice of Law since 2009, and he currently serves on the American Bar Association’s Standing Committee on Client Protection. Mr. Kozlov was Chair of the American Bar Association’s 2015 Unauthorized Practice of Law School, which trained attorneys on various aspects of investigating and prosecuting unauthorized practice of law cases, and is again Chairing the same program for 2017. He is also currently the Chair of the Northwest Suburban Bar Association’s Ethics Committee. Finally, Mr. Kozlov is an Adjunct Professor teaching professional responsibility. On a personal note, Mr. Kozlov was a nationally ranked competitive figure skater and has been a professional skating instructor for several suburban park districts over the last 23 years.
