About

Kathleen Hirsman is a Senior Lecturer in Residence in the Education Law and Policy Institute at Loyola University Chicago School of Law.  In the School of Law, she teaches courses in Education Law and Policy, School Law, Special Education Law and Advocacy, Legal Issues in School Discipline, and Labor and Employment Law in the Education Workplace.

She also serves in an adjunct faculty capacity in the Loyola University School of Education where she teaches graduate education law and policy courses in the Educational Leadership Program and School Psychology Doctoral Program.

Prior to joining Loyola’s faculty, for 25 years, Ms. Hirsman represented and counseled school districts in board governance issues, student issues, special education, labor and employment matters, collective bargaining and general litigation.  She has also served as adjunct faculty at Concordia University Chicago, where she taught in the Masters and Doctoral programs in Graduate and Innovative Programs: Educational Leadership, and Early Childhood Education.  Ms. Hirsman served as an elected member of the Board of Education of Hinsdale Township High School District 86 from 2015-2023.
