About
Deborah (“Dee”) Baker currently serves as General Counsel and Deputy Chief of Staff to Lieutenant Governor Juliana Stratton. Previously, Dee served as a Governor-appointed Commissioner for the Illinois Workers’ Compensation Commission where she decided administrative appeals with a panel of administrative law judges (ALJs). Prior to this, Dee served as an appointed Arbitrator for the Illinois Workers’ Compensation Commission where she presided over administrative hearings. Dee has also worked as Assistant Deputy Chief Legal Counsel and Ethics Officer for the Illinois Department of Corrections and as an Assistant Attorney General. Dee also has experience working as in-house Litigation Counsel and as an Associate Attorney in private practice.
Dee volunteers and/or serves on the Board of Directors for Cabrini Green Legal Aid, One For One Chicago, and Bounce Children’s Foundation. Additionally, Dee is a member of the Dean’s Diversity Council at Loyola Law. During law school, Dee competed in moot court, served on one of Loyola’s journals, and tutored for the Legal Writing Department.
