The Access to HealthCare course is a prospective elective open to 1Ls and upper level students. This course provides students an opportunity to investigate historical perspectives on the impact of racism on the development and evolution of our healthcare system, consider how healthcare and insurance systems work in present day and continue to result in disparate health outcomes, and to prepare students to advocate for systems' change to create more equitable healthcare systems in our communities. A significant component of the course is participation in an immersive field study to Mississippi during the Spring Break. Travel and accommodations for the trip will be arranged and fully funded by the Beazley Institute!Complete an interest form for faculty permission to enroll in the Access to HealthCare course here.
