Expert Convening on the Gender Persecution Principles of the International Criminal Court

The purpose of the convening is to gather a small group of experts to identify key takeaways and best practices to inform the International Criminal Court Office of the Prosecutor as it develops principles of gender persecution.

The principles will provide guidance on prevention and enforcement, and also reflect the importance of the protection and participation of survivors.

The convening will be the culmination of a year of outreach by the ICC Office of the Prosecutor to civil society seeking input on the gender persecution principles. This is part of the ICC prosecutor’s broader initiative to advance accountability for the crime against humanity of persecution on the grounds of gender and builds on the OTP’s 2022 policy on the crime of gender persecution.
