Loyola's National Security and Civil Rights Program faculty offer a rich diversity of perspective and experience. John C. Dehn is a former Army lawyer with diverse practice experience, including the investigation and prosecution of detainee abuse in Afghanistan. Thomas A. Durkin is a well-known trial lawyer specializing in the defense of complex federal criminal cases, with a special emphasis on the defense of prosecutions involving national security, domestic terrorism, and civil rights related matters. Joseph M. Ferguson is the former Inspector General for the City if Chicago, which followed 15 years with the United States Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of Illinois, where among other things he served as the Chief of the Money Laundering and Forfeiture Section and as Deputy Chief of Financial Crimes & Special Prosecutions and Terrorist Financing Coordinator.
