Zoom

Zoom is a cloud conferencing tool that can be used for synchronous meetings of multiple participants and scopes, all within a continuously updated and accessible user interface. Hosts and participants can access Zoom through any laptop or mobile device, making Zoom an excellent choice to connect from multiple environments. Zoom offers robust audio, video, chat, collaboration tools, and allows screen and file sharing. Zoom fosters interactivity with polling, whiteboard, and breakout room features. For future reference and/or archival records, meetings can be recorded and made available to course members or as public resources. All active faculty, staff, and students have the ability to host their own Zoom meetings. 

In order to access Pro features, log into the Loyola Zoom license using your Loyola credentials.

Zoom FAQ

How do I sign into Zoom on my device?

Smartphones or Tablet:  Download and install the "Zoom Cloud Meetings" app from the app store on your mobile device.  Sign in via SSO using your Loyola username and password.  The domain needed to sign in is "luc.zoom.us".

Windows or Mac Computer:  Sign in at https://luc.zoom.us using your Loyola username and password.  All Loyola faculty, staff, and students have account access.  Alternatively, you can sign into the Zoom client.  The latest Zoom client can be downloaded at https://luc.zoom.us/download.  Sign in via SSO using your Loyola username and password.  The domain needed to sign in is "luc.zoom.us".

What is the recommended equipment for using Zoom?

Any webcam or microphone will work with Zoom. For recommendations on webcams or microphones, you may borrow equipment from the DMS Equipment Loan Program as a try-before-you-buy.

What are the recommended Zoom meeting security options?

Cloud Recording Retention Policy

Loyola adopted a new cloud recording retention policy on October 1, 2020 in which all cloud recordings will now be retained for 180 days. Cloud recordings older than 180 days will automatically be moved to a 30-day recycle bin. An email notification from Zoom will be sent to the cloud recording owner 7 days prior to permanent deletion from the recycle bin.

Are cloud recordings created before October 1, 2020 bound by the same policy?

Yes, all cloud recordings, regardless of when they are created, will be bound by this policy.  They will be retained for 180 days before being moved to the Trash folder for 30 days.  Zoom will send an email reminder 7 days prior to permanent deletion.
