Identify Job Scams
Have you received an unexpected email regarding a job opportunity, perhaps similar to the example below? Unfortunately, these are typically not legitimate job offers and could lead to identity theft or a loss of money.
I am sharing a job information to students who might be interested in a Paid Unicef Part-Time Job to make up to $500 (USD) Weekly. Attached is further information about the employment schedule.
If interested kindly contact REDACTED (REDACTED@gmail.com ) from your alternative email address (e.g yahoo, gmail, hotmail etc) and not your EDU email for urgent details of employment.
NOTE: THIS IS STRICTLY WORK FROM HOME POSITION

Such scams often attempt to trick users into disclosing personal information or sending money. These emails (and anything similar) should be reported to the ITS Service Desk at 773-508-4487 or ITSServiceDesk@luc.edu. If you have questions about any email, please contact the ITS Service Desk before you act on the email or as soon as you become suspicious.
Be especially cautious if a job-related email:
- Sounds too good to be true (e.g., offers a generous salary for little work)
- Asks for personal information, documents, or credit card / bank account details
- Contains spelling or grammar errors
- Offers you a job without any prior interaction or interview
- Asks you to send any payment (such as an application fee), or transfer money between accounts
- Offers to send you a check before you do any work, or offers to send an unexpectedly large check
- Is unsolicited
- Does not address you by name
- Does not list a company name
