University Strategy, Mission and Promise Alignment

Statement

Major change initiatives to applications and technology are driven by documented needs to enhance the University’s Strategy, Mission and Promise.

Rationale

• Information technology environment changes will respond to the needs of the University, rather than having the University change in response to ITS changes.
• This ensures that meeting the University’s Strategy, Mission and Promise is the basis for any proposed technology or process change.
• Unintended effects on University processes due to information technology changes will be minimized.
• A change in technology may provide new opportunities that improve business processes.

Implications

• The purpose of this principle is to ensure that the introduction of new technologies consistently align with the strategic needs of the University.
• Major changes in technologies and applications will follow a full review of the proposed changes using the enterprise architecture principles.
• Funding for a technical improvement or system development will not be approved unless a documented need exists (supporting Loyola’s Strategy, Mission and Promise).
• Change management and project planning processes conforming to this principle will be developed and implemented.
• The ease of use for any technology change will be clearly documented and in alignment with the ITS anytime anywhere access strategy.
