Applying to be in the Incubator

There are multiple steps in program development and revitalization from initial concept to implementation. The Provost’s Office will put out a formal call for incubator concept papers that will be due three times per year (September 15, February 1, and June 1). No more than 1-2 programs will be accepted into the incubator for any one cycle (i.e., no more than 3-6 programs will be incubated per year).

Step 1: Meet with the Director of the Program Incubator to explore the idea.  Please bring the preliminary concept for the program including name and type of credential, target market, and potential resources required.

Step 2: Develop a concept paper. Following early examination of the viability of pursuing a new or revitalizing an existing program, interested parties will develop a concept paper (see Guidelines for Developing a Concept Paper) or determine the appropriate type of proposal for a program revitalization.  Here, we will collect preliminary information, including:

  • Curricular grounding.
  • Likely viability, given the market conditions.
  • Initial enrollment and expense projections.
  • Consistency with Loyola’s mission as described in the strategic plan.

Documenting this information lays the foundation for the proposal development process.

Submit your incubator program concept paper

Step 3: Concept papers will be evaluated by the Provost’s Incubator Advisory Board on five factors: enrollment potential, revenue potential, risk, curricular innovation, and mission fit. This evaluative process will be used to determine which programs will be invited to submit a full proposal in each round.
