The Ignatian call to be "people for and with others" requires connection to community and the development of relationships with those around us. University Ministry strives to provide abundant opportunities to engage with others within the Health Sciences Campus and in the local community in ways that celebrate diversity, build meaningful relationships, embody solidarity, and connect to the spiritual life.
Community Engagement and Service Opportunities
University Ministry is committed to providing a variety of opportunities for service and social action for the Loyola University Chicago Health Sciences Campus community. A wide array of short-term service offerings include the HSC Day of Service, outreach programs for those experiencing hunger and homelessness, and partnerships with local organizations such as the Maywood Fine Arts Center, Quinn Community Center, St. Eulalia Catholic Church, Proviso Partners for Health, Housing Forward (formerly West Suburban PADS), and Mission of Our Lady of the Angels.
Extended service through our Ignatian Service Immersion program is offered during Spring and Summer breaks.
Watch this piece from 'Chicago Tonight' in Your Neighborhood highlighting Maywood and some of the excellent partnerships forged from the Health Sciences campus.
Many service programs and partnerships began because interested students had ideas to engage the community. Are you hoping to serve in a way not yet represented within our campus community? Be welcome to contact us with your ideas. We'll support you in the visioning and execution of your project!
