2025 Annual Open Enrollment

2025 Open Enrollment

Open Enrollment is your annual opportunity to enroll and make changes to your benefit choices, including elections for Flexible Spending Accounts.  Outside of Open Enrollment, changes can only be made to your elections if you or a family member experiences an  IRS Qualifying Event. You can remove dependents from your plan during this time without a qualifying life event. This is also a good time to review and update your beneficiaries.

Over the next weeks, we encourage you to review your current benefits by accessing Employee Self-Service (ESS), attending one of 3 virtual information sessions, and reading this Open Enrollment Guide so that you are prepared to make your benefit elections for 2025.

To enroll in your 2025 Loyola University Chicago benefits, log in to  Employee Self-Service during the open enrollment period: November 1, 2024 – November 15, 2024.  All changes made during this period will be effective January 1, 2025.

Review your current benefits by accessing Employee Self-Service (ESS) Review the Summary of Benefits & Coverage (SBCs) and other required notices here.  Use the new FLIMP-Benefit Consultant Tool to help determine which medical plan you and your family should enroll in for 2025.

Loyola Continues to Provide Competitive and Comprehensive Benefits in 2025!

At Loyola, our commitment to cura personalis, or care for the whole person, extends to the benefits we offer our employees. As you consider your options for the upcoming year, we encourage you to select plans that best support your needs and those of your family, including flexible spending and health savings account elections. Please note, that changes outside of this window can only be made if you or a family member experiences an IRS-qualifying event.

Each year, employers review their healthcare strategy to ensure it meets the needs of their employees. At Loyola University Chicago, we remain committed to providing competitive and comprehensive benefits that address the diverse needs of our faculty and staff.

For 2025, we have focused on maintaining access to high-quality care while offering a choice of plan providers. The changes to our medical plan options are designed to simplify the enrollment process and offer clearer choices. Additionally, these updates help us manage the rising costs of healthcare, ensuring continued value for you and your family.

What’s Changing for 2025:

  • The PPO 2 Medical Plan will no longer be offered. To simplify your choices, this plan is being discontinued. If you are enrolled in PPO 2, you must select a new plan during open enrollment.  If you are currently enrolled in the PPO 2 plan but do not make any changes during open enrollment, you will be automatically switched to the High Deductible Health Plan (HDHP)
  • PPO1 Medical Plan is being renamed to – PPO. Those enrolled in the PPO plan can contribute to a Flexible Spending Account (FSA) health plan. Re-enrollment is required every year.
  • PPO 3 HSA Medical Plan is being renamed to - HDHP (High Deductible Health Plan).  A Health Savings Account (HSA) will accompany the HDHP plan. Enrollment in the HSA plan is required annually. Faculty and Staff can contribute their own dollars to the plan and Loyola will contribute $600.00 for single coverage or $1200 for Single plus dependents.

Human Resources will host three virtual Benefit Information Sessions this fall.
