Call for Proposals: January 2025 Focus on Teaching and Learning Conference
Call for Proposals: January 2025 Focus on Teaching and Learning Conference
The Biannual Focus on Teaching on Learning (FOTL) Conference hosted by the Faculty Center for Ignatian Pedagogy (FCIP) and our campus partners is entitled Human-Centered Teaching in an Age of Innovation: Artificial Intelligence in Transformative Learning Environments. In August 2024, we gathered to engage in dialog about how to stay aligned with our Jesuit values while teaching during times of advances in technology tools like generative artificial intelligence. During the next online FOTL Conference on January 9, 2025, we will continue this dialog. We are seeking FOTL Conference proposals that respond to any of these questions:
- How do we make teaching increasingly personal in a digital age, using our values to inform our teaching and to shape students’ learning experiences?
- In what ways can we use artificial intelligence and other technology tools to advance human-centered research and teaching?
- What innovations have we pursued that help center our and our students’ humanity in educational activities?
- How do we navigate challenges of privacy, access, and integrity that have come to the fore with the emergence of generative artificial intelligence tools like ChatGPT?
- What successes have we had incorporating tools like ChatGPT into students’ holistic learning experiences both inside and outside of the classroom?
To submit a proposal, please use the call for proposals form. Note that this year, there are several new session types! If you have questions about submitting your proposals, please contact the Faculty Center for Ignatian Pedagogy at facultycenter@luc.edu.
