Yes. It is important to respond to any outreach by a Loyola official. Failure to do so in a timely fashion may result in additional actions being taken to ensure that the student is safe and a referral to the Office of Student Conduct and Conflict Resolution.
Yes. The BCT understands that we may not have all of the correct information. Students have the right to share their perspective, and this will be taken into consideration when determining an appropriate course of action.
Students' privacy is strongly valued and protected by the BCT whenever possible. In most cases, the fact that a student has been referred will only be shared with core members of the BCT, which is comprised of a select group of trained and experienced Loyola administrators. In some cases, a concerned faculty or staff member may inform their supervisor that a referral has been made, to ensure that appropriate steps are being taken to ensure the safety and well-being of the student.
A student’s BCT information is part of a student’s educational record. While the BCT Case Manager and select members of the BCT may have access to the information, it is subject to the privacy protections of FERPA.
