About

Jillian Gryzlak is a maker of things. She works with theaters and event companies throughout the Chicagoland area as a prop artisan, installation artist, costume designer, and object designer. Collaborations include Redmoon, Dance Exchange, Illinois Caucus of Adolescent Health, Adventure Stage Chicago, The Gift Theatre, Cabinet of Curiosity, NewMoon, and Elgin Community College. Jillian also works with youth across Chicago Public Schools as a Teaching Artist teaching visual arts and with classroom teachers co-designing arts integration curriculum. When not in the shop, she weaves textiles on her loom and works with ceramics both on and off the wheel.

Jillian holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago where she focused her time in the Fiber and Material Studies and Fashion departments. She then completed a Master of Arts from DePaul University's School for New Learning where she designed a degree that explored material culture and visual symbolism of color and motif.

Jillian is excited to be part of the Department of Fine and Performing Arts as Prop Artisan and looks forward to sharing her knowledge and collaborating with students in the crafting studio.
