Loyola offers a variety of research courses every semester. These courses are usually, but not always, aimed at upper-level students. Some are capstone courses in which you conduct a research project based on material presented in the course itself. Others are more basic, giving you academic credit for research you are doing that semester in a lab or through a LUROP Fellowship.

Importantly, many undergraduate research courses will earn you engaged learning credit. Check out this list of Fall 2024 Research Courses  & Spring 2025 Research Courses in several departments.

UNIV 102 Introduction to Research (offered spring semesters)

This section offers students the opportunity to investigate research as a learning practice. It starts with developing a research topic and takes students through the process of taking a topic and making it a project. In addition, the course focuses on finding research opportunities specifically at Loyola. Some of the course is devoted to how to fund one's research. Finally, the last portion of the class focuses on where and how to present one’s research.
