COVID-19 Update
Kind greetings from the Hank Center:
All Hank Center Spring events are postponed until further notice. As always, we are committed to maintaining a safe environment for our visiting scholars, students, staff, and community. Please see Loyola's Coronavirus update page for more information on Loyola's response.
We will take it step by step with public health always foremost in our minds. We may utilize our many media options (recording, livestreaming, etc.) if we deem it useful and appropriate. Meanwhile, why not catch up on the many lectures and conference proceedings that the Hank Center has sponsored in its history? We celebrate 15 years next year and we have collected an embarrassment of riches in this short time. All of our past lectures continue to be available at our CCIH video archive page.
Finally, this week’s recommended reading is a classic from early Renaissance Italy: The Decameron by Giovanni Boccaccio. By no means the same kind public health problem, but the Catholic imagination has visited the scourge of illness before—with various degrees of reverence, insight, carnality, and sanctity.
May our loving God guide our leadership, strengthen our health care workers, and keep us all in safety—especially those who are the most vulnerable.
Warmest regards and,
Christ’s Peace,
