Known as "the prince of the paradox," convert G.K. Chesterton is renowned among Catholic thinkers for his prolific and diverse output. Chesterton was at home in most any setting--poetry, plays, journalism, public lectures and debates, literary and art criticism, biography, Christian apologetics, and fiction. His work has been widely translated and his writings continue to be the subject of contemporary study and analysis, challenging and delighting new generations of readers. While his writing is well known for its humor and insight, Chesterton's work also includes calls to action for social and economic justice. He remains today a major resource in navigating contemporary social and religious issues. In this lecture, the LUC community welcomed Fr. Ian Boyd, distinguished professor of Catholic Studies at Seton Hall University, president of the G.K. Chesterton Institute for Faith & Culture, founder and editor of The Chesterton Review, and author of The Novels of G.K. Chesterton, to offer his insights about the contemporary relevance and prophetic nature of the Chesterton's prolific writings.
