Anuoluwa Ogunwusi (she/her)
My name is Anuoluwa Ogunwusi (she/her) AA ’24. I'm here to tell you about my Arrupe College experience.
- Major: AA in Liberal Arts, Pre-STEM
- High School: Roger C. Sullivan High School
- Involvements: Career Services HERO and LEAD programs
How I chose my degree:
Because I want to major in a healthcare related field.
My plans after graduation:
Starting in the fall I would be attending Loyola University Chicago.
Professor a new student should absolutely take a class with:
Dr. Aubrey Sirman! She absolutely has her way of teaching, and you can never be bored when she's in the class! She's so kind, respectful, and comfortable to be around.
Class I never expected to love:
Calculus I was and is still hard for me but there are times where I really love the complexity of the topics thought or how my professor interacts with his students. Thinking back now, Calculus I was interesting to me because it was challenging.
Favorite spot on campus:
My favorite place is on the 2nd floor of Maguire Hall because that's where I spend most of my time and where a ton of student activity happens.
What was your favorite moment during your time at Loyola?
Interacting with my classmates and going on class trips with my professors.
Some surprisingly cool things about Arrupe:
How close everyone is. You can actually form a close bond with one's professors. Arrupe also prioritize their students to the point where I felt I was being spoilt. Lastly, Arrupe made sure I and along with other kids, particularly other POC, felt welcomed. So, I'd always be grateful for that.
What advice do you have for the incoming class?
Step outside of your comfort zone and take the risks of trying things and saying yes to opportunities that you may be hesitant about. Also taking the initiative to find these opportunities at Arrupe is super important because there are so many ways to get involved and explore your interests.
