Anthropology students Diandra Sarr and Sana Leebe awarded Gilman Scholarships
Two students in the Anthropology Department have been awarded Gilman Scholarships in the Spring 2020 award cycle!
Anthropology major Diandra Sarr, entering her senior year in AY 20-21, had planned to study in Senegal in Fall 2020, in SIT’s “Hip-Hop, African Diaspora, and Decolonial Futures” program, which includes a visit to Ghana, as well as Wolof language study. She hopes to be able to attend in Spring 2021 instead, if COVID-related travel restrictions are lifted.
Sana Leebe is off to Jordan as part of SIT's "Refugees, Health and Humanitarian Action” program. It's a multi-faceted program that includes a several-weeks-long trip to Geneva as a way to help build a comparative framework about the politics (and resources) of refugee resettlement.
