Online Classroom and Learning Platform
Loyola and Concord have created a highly interactive, sophisticated learning environment that is designed for the working professional. Courses are conducted in a largely asynchronous mode, giving students the ability to schedule their studies at a time and place convenient to them. The curriculum is literally available over the Internet 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, from any part of the globe.
Each course at Loyola is divided into 14 learning modules. Students work through all courses simultaneously on a suggested study pace—much as you would if you were attending more than one course in a brick and mortar school. Each course module may contain any or all of these content delivery methods:
- reading assignments
- audio or video lectures
- multiple-choice quizzes or exams
- bulletin board assignment
- writing assignment
- live, synchronus classes
Students complete writing assignments and other coursework similar to that required in an on-ground program, but with the convenience of submitting their work online. Professor feedback is critical to this method and is facilitated by the technology. Students receive extensive comments and critiques of their writing assignments and have direct access to their professors.
A typical day may include reading assigned materials, attending a professor-led seminar, discussing coursework with classmates in an online study group, or doing research using one of the electronic networks available to Loyola students. In addition, students can view archived lectures and discussion groups, email their classmates and professors, and take examinations—all through the Loyola-Concord website.
